Terms of Service

Locus is provided by Yonathan Levy, a sole proprietor registered in Israel (business number 213635964), Stern 92B, Kiryat Ono 5560721, Israel. Contact: yonilev2003@gmail.com.

These terms cover the Locus engine you run on your own computer and the Locus website and account. By using either, you agree to them.

You must be 18 or older to create an account or use Locus. By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 or older and able to enter into a binding contract. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data, except records the law requires us to keep.

• You choose what to index, and are responsible for having the right to do so.
• If you use an external embedder (Voyage, OpenAI), you're responsible for your own account and compliance with that provider's terms.
• Your choice of AI assistant/MCP client is governed by that product's own terms.
• Keep your API keys secret. You are responsible for activity under your account and keys.

Free and trial accounts are offered at our discretion. We may limit, suspend or close a free or trial account at any time and for any reason, including capacity, abuse or the end of a test period, with or without notice; where practical we email you first. Closing an account ends its managed features (managed embeddings and remote access). It does not touch the files or the index on your computer, and the engine keeps working with its local embedder or your own key. This section does not apply to a paid subscription while it is active.

No refunds, except where the law requires one. See Refunds.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. There is no service level, support commitment or release schedule. Search results are generated automatically and can be incomplete or wrong. Features may change between versions.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$100.

These limits apply only to the extent the law allows. They do not limit any liability or amount that cannot be limited by law, including amounts fixed by statute and your mandatory rights as a consumer.

You are responsible for keeping your own files backed up.

We may change these terms. For a material change, we email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Non-material changes, such as clarifications and updates the law requires, take effect when we post them. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Israel, and the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa have exclusive jurisdiction. This does not deprive a consumer of the protection of mandatory laws of the country where they live.
